Principals

Responsibility

This is not a walk in the park. When you realize you are the one steering your life’s adventure, you will rise to the occasion. You are the one responsible for your life working out and I believe there is great freedom in knowing this.

Presence

Our legacy is created moment to moment. We encourage people to ask themselves, ‘what is needed now?’ and "‘what is it time for now?’

Ritual

A sacred life is made up of sacred moments. By building tailored toolkits we can turn these moments into practices. Our practices become sacred ritual for daily life. We believe your life is sacred.

Uplift

Fun is strategic and we need to make time for it. We believe a fulfilling life is rich in laughter, optimism and positivity.

Clarity

Seeing things as they really are is fundamental to creating decisive and successful change. Together we will clear the brambles, creating your custom path to success.

Ahimsa (Non-Violence)

A key concept in yoga philosophy, ahimsa teaches us to be kind to ourselves, first and foremost; further we all need a safe space to hear ourselves, to discover what it is we truly want, and to obtain the tools needed to reach our goals.

More About Kathryn

Kathryn Smith spent many years as a competitive tennis player during which she discovered that her athletic performance improved as she learned to quiet her critical mind and stay grounded in her body. She has seen first-hand the ways her life as been uplifted by teachers and coaches over the years and she finds joy in supporting others in the same way.

During her graduate school work in Cultural Anthropology, and subsequently, a tenure as the women’s tennis coach at Princeton University, Kathryn began to appreciate that embracing a student mindset would be a key for her to live a fulfilling life. Over the years, she has spent much of her time learning and unlearning. She began teaching yoga in 2011, earning a 500-hr yoga certification in 2014, and today leads an annual 200-hour Teacher Training Program at Yoga Off East, a studio she founded in 2016, located just two blocks from her freshman dorm at her alma mater, Duke University. In 2021, Kathryn earned certification as a Lightyear Leadership Coach from longtime mentor, Susanne Conrad.

Revery, which she created in 2022, is a custom coaching service, integrating over 20 years of leadership experiences on and off the tennis court and yoga mat. Revery offers personalized coaching to support the structure, habits, and daily practices for your big life. With particular emphasis on developing leaders, Kathryn uplifts ambitious living with mindful practices. She believes everyone is a leader, whether you are the leader of your own life, your household, your team, business, organization, or your community.

Kathryn resides in Durham, NC with her husband, Ramsey, their two children and two dogs.
